How state policy is quietly crushing Colorado’s small businesses (Opinion)
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... As the 2026 Colorado legislative session approaches, the General Assembly must make one thing clear: small businesses are not the enemy. Because time and again, state policy treats them as if they are. In an increasingly hostile regulatory environment, with a cooling economy and rising costs across the board, Colorado’s small businesses need relief, not another squeeze.
Rep. Ryan Gonzalez: Broken health care system needs fixing
By Jon Caldara If you’re a fan of limited government, personal liberty, or educational choice, Tuesday night’s election results were a downer, just another one in a long line of depressing elections that has made Colorado more California than California. However, if you prefer a controlling elite deciding your fate, debt, class envy and teacher unions, it was just another victory in a decade’s long win streak.
GUEST OPINION: Real threat to TABOR refunds is right here in Colorado Original
Over the past few weeks, you have likely seen news warning there will be no TABOR refund in 2025. Democrat leaders blame Washington and H.R.1, but this loss is the result of years of their deliberate decisions to weaken the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, our state’s most important taxpayer protection. TABOR, passed by voters in 1992, is simple: the government can only grow at a reasonable rate, and any extra revenue must be refunded to taxpayers.
(Guest Opinion) Gabe Evans and Ryan Gonzalez: A fork in the road - Fixing the immigration system the right way
In the Army, we had a saying: “You play the hand you’re dealt, not the one you wish you had.” That mindset applies directly to the immigration crisis facing America today. Right now, we’ve got more than 8 million illegal immigrants working in the U.S. Some of them are troublemakers — peddling fentanyl and tusi, committing other crimes, and undermining our public safety. For those criminals, there’s zero tolerance.
Rep. Ryan Gonzalez: Broken immigration system needs fixing
By Mike Rosen The multiculturalism movement is a cancer disguised as a cure. It claims that learning more about minorities would elevate them and improve national harmony, and opening our borders to people from other countries will enrich us as they combine their cultures with ours.
Two bills to help make Coloradans' food shopping affordable again | OPINION
As a newly elected representative working to be the voice for Colorado’s hardworking families, I hear daily from constituents struggling to make ends meet. Let me tell you about one such story. Just last week, I spoke with a mother in my district who broke down in tears, telling me about her trip to the grocery store. She’s juggling two jobs to provide for her children, but even with her best efforts, she’s finding it harder and harder to make ends meet.
Gonzales: Colorado's TABOR Amendment serving taxpayers well
In 1992, Colorado voters passed the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, or TABOR, the nation’s strongest tax limitation law to this day. For those who are unfamiliar what TABOR really does, this amendment to the Colorado Constitution allows government spending to reasonably increase using a formula of population growth plus inflation. Excess revenue, known as the “TABOR surplus,” must be refunded to taxpayers. If state government wants to keep the surplus, or raise taxes, voters must approve.
(Election Opinion) Ryan Gonzalez: I will be a fresh voice for District 50
All elections are important — presidential years, midterm years, city council elections and school board elections. But for me, this election is the most important ever. My parents moved here from Mexico, my dad from Tijuana and my mom from Irapuato, a central-Mexico town. We moved to Greeley from Fort Morgan when I was very young, spending most of my life living in House District 50. My mom taught me to be thankful for the opportunity we had from as early as I can remember.
