Getting Sauced: The Podcast
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced Food Getting Sauced: The Podcast – We’re Hitting The Road! Ryan Lindley Mar 19, 2023 Ryan Lindley At no point will I ever remotely suggest I am anywhere close to the calibre of a guy like Anthony Bourdain was. I won’t even call myself a chef. I am, at best a learned hack. I’m a food writer and cooking content creator who knows his way around a kitchen. I am not, and never will say I am a chef.
Ryan Lindley’s: Getting Sauced - Restaurant Secrets for Tender Proteins — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Dining out it so bloody expensive now. The pandemic saw huge increases in home cooks upping their skill set to try and replicate meals from our favourite restaurants. The bread baking thing was kinda cool too. I hope everyone still has their pandemic sourdough starters alive and well! Did you notice when you tried to make chicken fingers at home, you followed a recipe to the last milligram of flour. You marinate and season the strips in the perfect concoction of buttermilk and hot sauce.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Make your own Big Mac Sauce! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
No. It’s not “just Thousand Islands” salad dressing. It’s incredibly easy to make and totally customizable if you want to kick it up a notch and make it spicy! It makes an incredible fry dipper as well. Contrary to popular belief, there is no ketchup in the recipe. I’m not sure what some folks are tasting, but variations call for BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar and other wacky options. My philosophy on cooking is the least amount of ingredients usually makes the best tasting food.
Best Of 2020: Looks Like They Are Finally Going To #ArrestRandyHillier — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Hi Randy. According to a tweet from Joe Warmington, Randy Hillier is likely smoking as many darts as he can get in this evening, and probably reflecting on some choices he’s made over the last little bit. Oh Randers. You’ve got a LOT of explaining to do tomorrow.
Best Of 2022: You're Taking Part in Dry January? Cool. Now could you shut the F*%k Up Already? — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
I’m not sure what the proper term is for people who chase and partake in internet fads. I call them “PLEASE shut the fuck up already.” Seems there was one social media-driven fad which may be a flash variant bred from Covid lockdown excess. The kids are calling it “Dry January.” It’s where you don’t drink for a month and post non-fucking-stop about it on every single social media outlet you have access to. What happens on February 1st?
Our #ONStorm Evacuation Story of 2022 — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Developing Story It seems like over the past decade or so, when you hear about STORM WARNINGS on social media and the news, it’s almost always overblown. The age of shock and awe reporting has even bled into the damn weather reporting. Well, even a sensationalizing, dramatic broken clock is right twice a day. The Christmas snow storm is upon us, and holy cow is it ever a doozie. My daughter and her mom are no strangers to what Lake Erie can toss out during a storm.
The Lindz Report: Gävlebocken might be the Best Christmas Tradition You Didn't Know About — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
You may have not heard about the Gävle Goat. It’s an annual yuletide tradition in the Swedish town of Gävle that has marked Christmas there for decades. But, there is an unsanctioned, sinister movement that plagues the art exhibit year after year. The Gävle Goat stands approximately 12.8-metres tall, weighing in at around three-tonne. He’s a statue made with a wooden skeleton covered in straw. The town has built one every year before Christmas since 1966.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Homemade Niagara (Irish) Cream — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
An indulgent, sweet and creamy treat. Great for coffee, over ice cream or on it’s own as a sipper. My most favourite part about making “Irish” Cream is how easy it is to tailor-make essentially whatever flavour you want. Salted caramel? Use Dulce de Leche condensed milk rather than plain. The world of extracts and flavoured instant coffee are at your disposal, and the base recipe is a delicious blank canvas. Leave it plain, or have some fun with it. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.
BREAKING: Twitter Suspends Journalists Critical of Space Karen — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
The new bastion of free speech has just locked out a bunch of journalists who have been critical of Elon Musk. The last tweet from Washington Post’s Drew Harwell:\ And I’m sorry, but nobody fucks with my boy Keith! Host of the hit Podcast “Countdown,” here is Olbermann’s last tweet: Donie O’Sullivan tweeted about Mastadon being suspended for tweeting about them hosting the @ElonJet account. This was the account that harvested publicly available information on Elon Musk’s jet and tweeted it out.
GOOD NEWS: Big Sugar's Gordie Johnson RETURNS to the Dean Blundell Podcast! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network

Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Food May Not Fix The World, But It's a Start — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Think back to when you first started cooking. Baby steps, right? Totally stuck to the recipe on the box, instructions on the bag or the method you read on the internet. You cracked out a pre-portioned, meticulously measured and determined method the chefs at Kraft or Mr. Noodle wrote down after multiple panels, blind-tastings and series of approvals. You ate it, and it was good! Holy shit! Move over Chef Boyardee. There’s a new gun in the artillery. I’m not making fun of you. I was you.
Did Vladimir Putin Fall Down & Make a Doody?? — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Remember that time when Vladimir Putin fell down the stairs and shit his pants? No? Well, let me refresh your memory. Is this true? No one knows for sure since the Kremlin isn’t talking, but as the kids say, this couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. He was walking down a flight of stairs, surrounded by adoring fans and well-wishers, when he suddenly lost his footing and tumbled ass-over-teakettle all the way down to the bottom.

If you’re anything like me, you love cheese. The sharper, the better. I’m talking about extra old cheddars, not that weak-ass Monterey Jack. Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Key Lime Pie! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
I have two favourite pies. Pecan Pie and Key Lime Pie. Coconut Cream Pie is a VERY close contender. Maybe that one is next. My wife is the Pecan Pie Princess, and I don’t wanna mess with a good thing. I am terrible at baking. You know how I know? I don’t. It intimidates me, so I never do it and therefore I know I am not good at it. Ashley always tries to change my mind because baking calls for precision, science and attention.
If You're Shopping in the US this Weekend, Grab Some Kid's Cold Meds — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
I’m not telling you to do anything here. I’m just suggesting if you know any friends or family with kids, it might be nice of you to grab a reasonable amount of Children’s Tylenol, Children’s Advil, Kid’s Motrin et al, and bring them back. Once you’re back, you could, maybe publicly announce on your social media how lucky you are to have all those extra vital items.
The Lindz Report: Who Broke Social Media? We Did — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
This is a Preview transcript of the feature story of The Lindz Report from this Upcoming Weekend Broadcast. Subscribe on Apple, Spotify, Google or wherever you get your fine-ass Podcasts. We’ve spent almost 3 decades learning what social media can do. What we’ve failed to do is reflect on the milestones we’ve crossed along the way. From all of us logging onto platforms and awkwardly announcing what we were doing at that very moment, feeling uncomfortable and wondering who the hell cares.
Sketchers Throws Kanye Out of L.A. Office After Unannounced 'Visit' — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Kanye West lost his endorsement deal from Adidas yesterday. In this story, Adidas is like the “Gordon Ramsay Restaurant” of the footwear industry. So, he headed straight over to the Arby’s equivalent, and was given the same warm #GFY treatment. Hahahahahaha!!!! Good for you, Sketchers! I love when the walls close in on really shitty people. I for one, cannot wait until he’s repping exclusive “George” threads from Walmart discount racks. If they’ll have him, that is.
Galen Weston Jr. Thinks You're an Idiot... Again — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Galen Weston Jr. wants you to think he’s a good guy. To the unsuspecting consumer, his latest stunt would have you believe as such. He wants you to believe he’s in it WITH you while Canadians find ways to battle consumer inflation. Here’s the email a lot of folks received today from Galen, explaining how his empire is freezing price increases on their store-brand items: Sounds nice, eh?
January 6th Select Committee Votes to Subpoena Trump's Testimony — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
They finally did it. The House select committee is calling on the Cheeto-in-Chief to tell his side of the story. While not unprecedented, it’s incredibly rare for a congressional committee to compel the testimony of a former United States President. Arguably, the entire Presidency of Donald Trump was filled with many rare, unprecedented moves. At the end of the 9th sitting of this committee, it was voted on unanimously to issue Trump a subpoena.
Series Part 1: Ontario to the Healthcare "Hero" At Home with Covid-19 - F*** You! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
This is an Ongoing Series About Long-Term Care Workers Stuck at Home Without a Paycheque, caused by a Pandemic We’re All Desperately Trying to Ignore. While provinces across Canada are deciding to treat the Covid-19 pandemic as though it doesn’t exists, cases are once again on the rise in high-risk environments like schools and long-term-care facilities. While these numbers aren’t shared daily, with as much importance as they once were on mainstream media outlets they are no less important.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced: Crunchy Southern Fried Chicken — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Ryan’s Crispy, Delicious & Painfully Crunchy Southern Fried Chicken. You want your coating so crispy, it hurts! DREDGE & BATTER FIXINS 2.5 cups All Purpose Flour ½ cup of Corn Starch 2 tablespoons Salt 2 tablespoons Thyme 2 tablespoons Oregano 2 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning (or Celery Salt if you’re a pleb) 2 tablespoons Black Pepper 2 tablespoons Dry Mustard 5 tablespoons Spanish Paprika (or your favourite one.
Tim Hortons is Selling Clothes Now Because Nothing Matters Anymore — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Tim Hortons is launching a clothing line now. From the Canadian coffee and donut staple who brought you cheeseburgers, poutine and pizza, they are now listening to their consumers once again and giving them exactly what they’ve been asking for for well over a decade. $64.00-$99.00 windbreakers. The idea seems to be going over just as expected. Notice a pattern? What people have been saying into the painfully obvious void for years now is they aren’t looking for social media trends.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced: The BEST Way To Make A Loaded Baked Potato — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Ridiculously easy, incredibly tasty crispy skin loaded baked potatoes.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Jalapeno Cheddar Mac n' Cheese — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
One of the first things that comes to my mind when I think of comfort food in the cold weather is Mac n’ Cheese. But, not just your standard pasta and cheese sauce. There is just something about the combination of cheddar and jalapeno that can’t be beat. The tomatoes make it more like a queso, but you can omit them entirely and still have an incredibly awesome dish. We change it up on occasion. Mushrooms are great in here as well if you’re craving them.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Easy Korean Beef Bowl — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Simple and easy Korean Beef (Bulgogi) recipe for a quick mid-week craving crusher. This is by no means a strict, traditional recipe or method, but it’s a great example of how science and food make the best dance partners.
Pro-Tip: Don't Talk About NyQuil Chicken On Your Podcast — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Of all the things we yammer on about every day at 3pm EST on The Dean Blundell Show, who knew NyQuil Chicken would be the “Tilt” on the Pinball table? We would totally understand if it was because of Loc’s toes, but no. We’ve been throttled from broadcasting the live show for a week on our channel. Before we go on about that, please note the show will be moving this week to Ray’s channel. You can subscribe to it HERE. Nothing changes. Same time. Same show. Just a different channel for now.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Cream of Mushroom Soup — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Cream of Mushroom soup is a staple in this house. Mushrooms are fascinating to me. Think about it for a second. Who the hell walked up to a pile of shit, or a musty old log and said “I’m gonna eat the first thing that grows on that”? Thank Jeebus for that person. Don’t add too many things to this soup. It’s beauty and incredibly balanced flavour is created by is it’s simplicity.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Apple Pie "Moonshine" — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Thinking it’s about time to make this year’s batch of Apple Pie Moonshine. Pumpkin spice doesn’t hold a candle to this flavour. Fight me! We make this every year and give out Mason jars to friends and family. The list gets bigger every year. It makes a great sipper or shooter on a crisp autumn night by the fire. What you need: 4L – Sweet Apple Cider. You may need to adjust your brown sugar to taste. (we use Bennett’s – A local orchard here in Southern Ontario) 1 – 26oz bottle of overproof DARK rum.
Relax. The Tales of "Fat Ryan" Don't Bother Me. — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
A lot of you have asked me about the shit-posting going on about me on social media. Because of the content we meddle in sometimes, we gain a LOT of haters and trolls. Some are better than others. Most of them are more like nuisance pests. The fruit flies of the internet, stalking my Instagram and posting photos from my past like I’m not incredibly proud of them. I think it’s funny, but some of you seemed genuinely upset for me.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Creamy Dill Pickle Soup — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
The weather is getting cooler. This always marks one of my absolute favourite food seasons. Soups & Chilis. I’ll admit, I had my doubts about this one, but Creamy Dill Pickle soup? This rocks, and was relatively easy to make. The pickle flavour is subtle and doesn’t overpower the soup. The cayenne adds just enough kick to make this a great soup to warm up with.
Influence for Sale: How the Gig Economy is Aiding Political Special Interest Groups — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
How many Twitter followers do you have? Lots? You may be able to sell your “influence” for top-dollar, and the market is RIPE! Especially if they are pedalling a narrative and completely devoid of any sort of morals in that pursuit. The gig economy has brought us instant access to people we need to do our bidding. Gig farming services like Uber, Upwork, Fiver etc. have made way for you and I to bypass the usual intimidating corporate framework.
Can Someone Do a Wellness Check on Tim Hortons Please? — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
If you are near York Cemetery, and you happen hear a low, constant humming sound, pay no mind. That’s just the corpse of the co-founder of Tim Hortons rotating at about 1,000,000 revolutions per minute. In a move that could be aptly analogized as Tim Horton hopping in the De Tomaso Pantera and heading Niagara-bound. What happens when a low-rent burger chain buys a coffee shop, and then both get swallowed up by a major corporate entity called Restaurant Brands International?
You asked. We Answered. And now Mayor Diane Therrien's Tweet is Supporting a great cause! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
If someone ever tells you nothing good comes from cursing, you can tell them they’re so f&%kin’ wrong now! The fantastic human being that happens to be the Mayor of Peterborough Diane Therrien put out a tweet this week. That tweet summed up exactly how the overwhelming majority of Canadians have been feeling in regards to the “FrEeDoM” fringe fries occupying their cities every weekend. She’s over it, just like you are.
The Mayor of Peterborough Diane Therrien Is the "Political Middle" Queen of Canada — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Romana Didulo and her Merry Band of Mouth-Breathers descended on Peterborough this past weekend. We don’t need to tell you more about that because we were the first network to cover it. Caryma was there to show you all the glorious and regal fine-points. Peterborough Mayor Diane Therrien Speaks Out The Mayor of Peterborough said the quiet part out loud we’ve all been saying. The difference here is she was able to say it from a position of elected position. She nailed it in one, single tweet.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Fresh San Marzano Tomato Sauce — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
This recipe works with Roma tomatoes as well, but the sweet and tart profile a San Marzano offers is perfect for a quick, rustic tomato sauce like this . Mid-August around our garden is like Christmas every morning. I love everything we grow, but I get super stoked when our San Marzano tomatoes start to turn red. To nerd out a little, ethylene is actually the naturally occuring property that starts to override the chlorophyll that originally makes your stuff green.
Florida Court Releases Property Receipt from F.B.I. Mar-A-Lago Search — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
We’re ALL about receipts. While some folks chose to live in the “upside down” and pretend reality is optional, we here at DeanBlundell.com LOVE when chickens come home to roost. For those living off-the-grid, here’s a quick recap. The Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a broad-sweeping search warrant on the former reality television host, repeatedly failed businessman and 45th President of the United States this week.
BREAKING: FBI Just Raided Donald Trump's Florida Home — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Get the popcorn, Ma!! It’s going down!! Trump and sources close to this haven’t said what the Federal Bureau of Investigation intended to find while executing the warrant on the former Reality TV Star’s home. We’re watching and will update the story as it unfolds if we can keep out sheer excitement in check long enough. While you’re here, you should check out the #ShadenfreudeSZN shirt in our store. It just seems fitting right about now.
Ontario Minister of Health Returns for a Day From Vacation to Blame E.R. Closure Crisis on Burnt Out Staff Taking Vacation — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
The Ontario Government ran a comb through it’s hair, pushed aside the empties and dragged themselves out of the Muskoka lounger and into Queens Park today for a quick dog-and-pony. It’s summer, bitches. YOU, the taxpayer should be heaping praise on the lot for taking time out of their summer break to refill the gaslights and scuttle back off to the vacation home.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Last-Minute Emergency Mexican Layer Dip — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Disclaimer: This is a Hail Mary Recipe. I ALWAYS urge people to make things from scratch, but sometimes time is of the essence. This is a totally store-bought snack that has a homemade feel you can serve without having your crowd judge you. This is NOT a Sponsored Post. Your spouse decides to host some friends last-minute and they’re coming soon. This happens a LOT in this house. One person is tasked with the 10-second tidy, while the other tries to figure out what to feed them.
We're ALL Writing History Books Here So Stop Messing It Up! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Back before days of the internet, we used to bury physical “time capsules” in the ground, or put messages in sealed bottles and send them adrift. I vividly remember being in, like grade 1, and our class working hard on deliberating what integral pieces of our reality would be placed in our sealed 5-gallon bucket that we planned to plunge deeply into the depths of the earth’s mantle.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - EASY Homemade Hot Sauce! — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Any hot sauce addict will know it’s a very expensive addiction. Spending between $6-$15 on average for a bottle of hot sauce adds up. While a lot of them are really great, you’re also bound by the flavours someone else chose for you. Making your own hot sauces is easy and it gives you the freedom to adjust to your own tastes for a fraction of the cost.
Independent Media is More Important Than Ever, But It Isn't Free — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
The current landscape we live in is definitely interesting to say the least. There are no shortages of stories to cover. What we at deanblundell.com have always tried to do is give you the story, a little snarky commentary and let you make up your opinions from what you see. Our coverage and commentary tries to pull back the dirty curtains that (albeit reluctantly) stimy current MsM coverage.
The Sheeple Shepherd Podcast is Brushing off the Dust in a BIG WAY — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
The Sheeple Shepherd Podcast is making a comeback with it’s “Season 3” debut this summer. We’ve got some new toys to share with you, and we hope you’ll use em! What’s new this season?
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - A Pitmaster's Favourite: Pork Belly "Burnt Ends" — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Pork belly burnt ends may become your favourite thing to serve off your BBQ or smoker. ‘Burnt Ends’ started out as a Pitmaster’s snack. Like a “baker’s dozen” for BBQ. It all started with beef brisket, and morphed to pork due to the similarities in protein structure and fat makeup. They are also called the “poor man’s burnt ends”, but don’t let the name fool you. It just might be the best thing to come out of a pit or BBQ without busting the bank.
100-Year Old Tom Hennessy is an Actual Fighter for Freedom Who is Still Marching for a REAL Issue — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
With notes from CBC & CTV Tom is a certified badass. At almost 100, with his wife Joyce by his side, Tom Hennessy left Victoria Park in London, Ont. to complete his 100-mile walk to raise money for homeless veterans. The walk he originally planned was going to be 100km, but because he’s a damn legend he extended it to 100 MILES! I get winded going to get the mail. He could totally kick my ass. Tom, from London, Ont. served in the Royal Air Force (RAF).
In Absolutely Shocking News: Tamara Lich Reportedly Arrested Again — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
We don’t have all the details yet, but stay tuned. Tamara Lich has been arrested in Alberta for alleged breach of bail conditions. The lead singer of the incredibly successful (in rural Alberta dive bars and Podunk cornfield festivals) band ‘Blind Monday’ was generously released on bail after being arrested in Ottawa in February. Legal scholars are calling this the “Finding out” phase that follows the “Fucking around” portion of general idiocy.
Oh Lawd He Comin': Let's Meet Putin's Newest War General Heavyweight — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Pulling army generals out of retirement is one thing. When you’ve literally run out of prime candidates because they keep getting murked by Ukrainian Forces? You’re left with some less-than-prime candidates. Oh Lawd He Comin’! “Hitler Lite” just dragged a morbidly obese general out of retirement to help in his country’s battle in the region, after the loss of like, every other one of his senior officers since Russia invaded its neighbor in late February.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Dry Rub For Beef (but works for ANYTHING) — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
Spoiler Alert: It’s not actually for sale. That’s not what we’re here for. I’m going to give you the recipe, and you’re about to change the way you eat meat. This is a simple Beef Rub Recipe that you will keep forever. What was ‘High Steaks’ All about? So yeah, at the height of the pandemic, we realized the food banks were getting absolutely rattled. So many people lost their jobs, couldn’t make ends meet and CERB just wasn’t cutting it for some.
Ryan Lindley's: Getting Sauced - Before You Pull Your Pork, You Gotta Rub It A Little — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
This rub recipe is universal for any pork protein you’re cooking. It stands up for smoking and low temps with ribs, pork belly and shoulders. If you’re looking for searing and grilling your chops, you may want to omit the brown sugar. Sugar gets bitter if you burn it. It get’s damn delicious if you caramelize it slowly. Make two batches. One with and one without. Quit buying rubs from big chains.
Ryan Lindley's Getting Sauced: Texas-Style Smoked Brisket — Dean Blundell's Sports, News, Podcast Network
One of my favourite things to cook is also my arch nemesis. Simplicity is key with this cut of meat, but cooking it can be intimidating and complex. This isn’t like a pork shoulder which is very friendly to temperature spikes. Successfully smoking a beef brisket is like beating the boss at the end of a video game. It may take you a few to perfect it, but the journey is always going to be delicious. It’s an unforgiving cut of meat.
