Interview

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Ron Burgundy

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It's one of the greatest joys in the world. It's hard to beat talking to athletes, coaches, staff, and even parents.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter. It's the quickest source for sports information. Sometimes it even comes too fast.

Who do you wish followed you?

Athletes: Lamar Jackson or Tracy McGrady. Journalists: Eric Sondheimer

Why did you become a journalist?

A former teacher told me all broadcasters have a strong writing background. However, I ended up falling in love with writing.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Recently I went to an Alyssa Thompson meet-and-greet. I was extremely nervous, but she was great to talk and work with.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Take whatever stories you can get your hands on. Become a great reader. Most importantly: never spell names wrong.

What's your favorite drink?

Nothing better than a cold glass of water

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In front of my TV watching something sports-related.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The Athletic
