It’s a sweltering Saturday in Virginia Beach as I walk south down the concrete boardwalk from my hotel to the oceanfront stage. When I get close to the festival’s entrance on 8th Street, it’s clear to everyone that something big is going down. A heavy but friendly police presence stands watch as hundreds of music lovers mingle outside the fenced in beach area, waiting to show their tickets and get their bags inspected.

He smuggled his art out of solitary confinement inside hollowed-out playing cards. Now, that work is wrapped around a luxury Napa Valley wine bottle — carrying a message about incarceration, resistance, and redemption into homes across the country. For the second year in a row, the Prisoner Wine Company in Napa Valley released a limited-edition vintage featuring label artwork by Jesse Krimes, a Philadelphia native and formerly incarcerated artist with international recognition.

It’s that AI is dissolving the philosophical foundations that made our current system feel legitimate, even to those who disagreed about how it should work. The search for a middle way between collectivism and laissez-faire capitalism was a key topic of philosophical debate in the 20th century.
