At a crossroads: Choosing a career move that aligns with who you are and where you want to go
There comes a point—whether you’re climbing the next rung, contemplating a major leap, or even stepping away from a long and fulfilling career—when you hit a pause and ask yourself: Is this where I’m supposed to be? Is there something more I still want to contribute? That moment represents a crossroads. One direction offers familiarity and stability. The other? Stretch, growth, and often, uncertainty. Choosing to leave a company, or coming out of retirement, isn’t a decision to take lightly.

Amplitude and frequency of human gait synchronization with a machine oscillator system - Scientific Reports
Abstract Humans sometimes synchronize their steps to mechanical oscillations in the environment (e.g., when walking on a swaying bridge or with a wearable robot). Previous studies have discovered discrete frequencies and/or amplitudes where individuals spontaneously synchronize to external oscillations, but these parameters are often chosen arbitrarily or for convenience of a successful experiment and are sparsely sampled due to time constraints on subject availability.

Ryan Schroeder is the president and chief executive officer of CRB, an engineering, architecture, construction and consulting company. Metastatic melanoma. Sickle cell disease. ALS. As I write this, promising new cell and gene therapies targeting each of these diseases are on the verge of FDA approval. In fact, 2023 and 2024 may be record-setting years for FDA decisions on advanced therapies.
New Illinois tax law changes definition of Investment Partnership, imposes new withholding requirements
On June 7, 2023, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed into law P.A. 103-0009 (SB 1963), which, among other things, modifies the definition of “investment partnership” and requires investment partnerships to withhold tax on Illinois-sourced income allocated to its nonresident partners.

Ryan Schroeder is the president and chief executive officer of CRB, an engineering, architecture, construction and consulting company. The phrase “alternative proteins” lands differently depending on who’s listening. To my neighbors back home in Kansas, who come from generations of cattle ranchers and meat packers, the term may seem irrelevant, or even threatening. To market analysts and journalists, it has recently evoked skepticism and dismal predictions for the future.

Visa - A Decade Of Dominance
Visa (V), despite being in existence for over 50 years and being one of the biggest brand names in the world, completed their IPO just barely over a decade ago. At the time, it was the biggest IPO in US history. This article will review their performance in the 2009-2018 period and take a look at what needs to happen for them to maintain their dominance in the next decade. Visa IPOed in March of 2008 and hit the ground running despite challenging macro conditions.
Barfresh - Turning The Corner?
Barfresh (BRFH) is a microcap company that sells ready-to-blend frozen beverages. They have product lines for Smoothies, Shakes, and Frappes. Their biggest selling point is their products are ready-to-blend, serving sized, and have minimal waste. What sets Barfresh apart from its smoothie competitors is its business model. It does not compete in the overcrowded direct to consumer space.
Kids win with Kentucky custody law | Comment
The new law strengthens a better arrangement called “shared parenting.” In shared parenting, kids get to see both parents equally. Instead of one parent winning, the children do. A new law grants the wishes of many Kentucky children by bringing them what they need most following divorce: both parents. Effective this month, the state has a new law on temporary child custody orders, which are the starting point for separating families.
Sherwin-Williams Co - An Unsung Growth Hero
Some of the best long-term investments are in companies that don't catch a ton of headlines because their business just isn't that interesting. Sherwin-Williams Co (NYSE:SHW) is a perfect example of this. Following their acquisition of Valspar they will be the largest paint & coating company in the world, surpassing PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG). If I had to make a list of boring industries, paint & coating would be near the top.
