Podcasting On A Budget: How To Record Great Audio For Less

But now, thanks to advances in technology and lower pricing, professional-level audio recording has moved within reach of practically anyone. So if you’ve ever wanted to reach a broad audience as a podcaster, there’s no time like the present.
Where Do We Go from Here?
Where do we go from here? Dawn Summers The world is upside down right now. People are getting very sick from a virus that is many times more contagious than the flu. Businesses are closing their doors without knowing if there will be a tomorrow. Families are facing extended isolation and an uncertain future. All of this happened in a matter of weeks. The first 120 days of 2020 have been the roughest yet, and given the way things have been going for the past five years, that’s saying something.
Keeping a Toddler Occupied During Quarantine
Luke is almost three years old. He’s incredibly smart, energetic, and not a fan of boredom. The idea of keeping him at home when he would much rather be out exploring a grocery store or visiting his relatives for an extended period of time seemed like a nightmare. It certainly isn’t easy. He’s had to make big adjustments to his life. Instead of going to his grandparent’s house every weekday while we work, he’s been stuck at home.
Voting Machines Reportedly Not Allowing Users to Vote Properly
Date: November 6, 2012Author: Ryan Matthew Pierson I’ll start this piece by stating that I’m not a huge fan of electronic voting machines in the present moment. These machines are often outdated and constantly under attack for being hackable, crackable, and riddled with issues. If anything, my thoughts are that coupling these machines with a paper receipt that allows for double-checking after the fact is the way to go.
Are Technical Writers Part of IT?
Throughout my time as a technical writer, I’ve been surprised to discover just how hard it is for some companies to determine where technical writers fit in their business. Some companies consider technical writers to be an extension of their engineering team. Others, however, see them as a part of the marketing and business side of the business. Some companies see technical writers as both. The role changes from marketing to IT depending on the needs of the moment.
Will 2020 Bring a Resurgence in Edge Computing?
Over the past decade, it seems like everything we do has moved from our local computers to the cloud. While less consumers are buying desktop PCs for their home, a rise in smaller, single-use edge computing devices is on the horizon. The cloud has taken over our digital lives. We use it to store our data (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), rely on it for our media content (Netflix, Spotify, etc.), and it’s even starting to stream video games (Stadia, xCloud, etc.).
I Really Enjoyed Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker
The long-held tradition of critics hating Star Wars continues with Rise of Skywalker. My experience with the movie left me wondering, “Are the critics watching the same film I am?” Let me start by saying that I am a huge Star Wars fan. My home office is decorated entirely in Star Wars posters and knick-knacks, I grew up in the prime Star Wars era where I had a good 16-17 years of exposure prior to the release of the prequels, and I’m a huge nerd for all things sci-fi.
The Good Doctor is an Excellent Show
Freddie Highmore is an excellent actor. This is evident in every one of his scenes on The Good Doctor, a hit drama on ABC currently in its third season. It is one of many reasons I enjoy watching, each week. Freddie Highmore plays Shaun Murphy, the leading character of The Good Doctor. Murphy is a resident surgeon with autism and savant syndrome. His challenges with interacting with patients, coworkers, and friends plays a strong contrast to his exceptional talents as a surgeon and diagnostician.
The LockerGnome Daily Report
Date: July 31, 2012Author: Ryan Matthew Pierson The Pirate Bay has changed its front page banner to reflect itself as a proud source of video content related to the 2012 Olympic Games held in London, England. This change would be laughable if it wasn’t for the wild attention being drawn to ongoing issues with NBC and its streaming of the Olympic games online. To start, I’m going to state that I do not personally advocate piracy in any form.
What I Like about Coworking at Industrious
With all the talk about WeWork in the news, it might sound like coworking spaces are a fad that has past its prime. Luckily for me and my coworkers at Industrious in downtown Austin, there are companies out there doing coworking spaces right. Industrious is one of them. Coworking spaces are an interesting dynamic. An Industrious office is a home to numerous companies, including startups, small businesses, and even satellite offices for larger corporations.
Vampirina is an Excellent Show for Boys and Girls
Vampirina is an episodic cartoon show about a young vampire and her human friends. Vampirina, ancient by human standards, appears to be a 10-year-old child with blue skin and batwings in her hair. The show features her two in-the-know human friends and a clueless neighbor boy that is determined to capture the supernatural for his web show. Luke, my two-year-old son, loves watching Vampirina on Disney Junior. He actually watched and enjoyed the show when he was a newborn.
Traditional Desktops and Laptops Have a Different Role in 2020
If there is one thing companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are making abundantly clear with their new generation of products, it’s that the role of desktop and laptop computers is changing. 2020 will bring with it a new cloud-reliant wave of devices that may have all the features and functionality of last year’s models, but that operate on comparatively smaller software platforms.
Redragon M801 Mammoth Gaming Mouse Review
If I were to recommend a gaming mouse priced at under $28, you might think I was crazy. That is, until you put your hands on the Redragon M801 Mammoth. The Redragon M801 Mammoth is priced on par with the lowest of the low end gaming mice, at that sweet spot where you might expect to find a decent three-button mouse for office use. Gaming mice are held to a much higher standard, often demanding high price tags and features such as variable color options and sensitivity settings.
Find the Perfect Technical Writing Job
Technical writers share a lot in common with their engineering and marketing counterparts. They have a passion for technology and creating new products and experiences. They also thrive in an environment that matches their unique workflow. Finding the perfect Technical Writing job is difficult. Often, you find yourself in positions where you need a gig and are willing to accept work that sits outside of your scope of interest.
Life with a Toddler
Luke is 1 year, 9 months old. He’s a funny toddler that enjoys cookies and, oddly enough, raw onions. His favorite pastime is pushing our Roomba around the house and turning it on and off. When he isn’t running around the house with his stuffed animals or rolling a toy car across the floor while making car noises with his mouth, he’s laying down the law with Angela and I. He’s a ball of energy and angst. These aren’t things you typically hear when someone is describing their family members.

For the most part, this is a hardware-based issue. That makes it extremely difficult to eliminate entirely through software patches alone.

AmazonBasics Executive Stylus Review | Ryan M. Pierson
AmazonBasics is the house brand for Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer. Its products span a range of categories from home decor to electronics. Recently, I picked up the AmazonBasics Executive Stylus for touchscreen devices to use with my 12.9-inch iPad Pro. At $5.99, it was a terrific deal when compared to the pricier Apple Pencil. It is also an excellent stylus for capacitive touchscreens. The stylus over all is thin and lightweight.
