1 Introduction Reflecting on the evolution of mental health nursing, I think about the generations of nurses who paved the way, championing compassionate, recovery-focused care. Our journey from custodial asylums to today's person-centred practice is more than a historical shift; it is a testament to the enduring power of holism and relational connection in our field.

Purpose: Psychological well-being of patients with post-traumatic injury is often not fully addressed. Yet our ability to progress patients and engage them in rehabilitation can be hugely influenced by psychological factors such as anxiety. Patients post fractured NOF often experience complications affecting multi-systems including delirium, chest infection, acute kidney injury and postural hypotension, all of which can delay mobilisation and impact on psychological well-being.
