High mTORC1 activity drives glycolysis addiction and sensitivity to G6PD inhibition in acute myeloid leukemia cells
On the basis of these results, we investigated whether mTORC1 signaling could drive a metabolic reprogramming of AML cells which could be targeted for therapy. Our data indicate that mTORC1 specifically promotes glycolysis and glucose addiction in AML cells. Furthermore, we observed that AML cells rely on glucose metabolism for their survival mainly for sustaining a high flux of glucose through the PPP.
