A universal Fano type scattering model and its experimental tests
Abstract Fano type scattering, whose spectral line shapes deviate markedly from the symmetric Lorentzian profile, has been widely observed in various resonant systems. For distributed resonators, however, the physical origin of such asymmetric spectra and their influence on parameter extraction still require further clarification. Here, using distributed resonators as a representative platform, we propose a physical model to describe the Fano-type scattering response.
From Single‑Cell Prediction to Non‑Host Immunity: The OsNAC78‑Pir7b Module in Rice
Plants constantly encounter a vast array of potential pathogens, yet disease is the exception rather than the rule, a phenomenon largely explained by non-host resistance (NHR). NHR is broad-spectrum, durable and considered the most robust form of plant immunity, but its molecular mechanisms have long remained obscure.
Letter to the Editor: Reaffirming Caution-The Unacceptable Vasoconstrictive Risk of CGRP‐Related Therapies in Moyamoya Angiopathy
To the Editor, With great interest we read the current consensus overview, “The Spectrum of Headaches in Moyamoya Angiopathy: From Mechanisms to Management Strategies - A Consensus Review from the NEUROVASC Working Group” which provides a much-needed framework for managing headaches in patients with Moyamoya angiopathy (MMA). As neurologists specializing in headaches, we agree that both acute and prophylactic treatment of headaches in patients with MMA is very challenging.
Genetic Divergence and Isolation of the Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) in the Red Sea
1 Introduction Green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas, Linnaeus, 1758) inhabit tropical and subtropical latitudes (Lutz et al. 2002). Due to life history traits such as long lifespans and their highly migratory nature (Lohmann et al. 1999), sea turtles have increased susceptibility to threats (Wallace et al. 2011), such as fisheries bycatch (López-Mendilaharsu et al. 2020), boat strikes (Shimada et al. 2017), direct take (Joseph et al. 2019; Pheasey et al. 2021) and coastal development (Goldberg et al. 2015).
Enhancing lateral flow assay performance: Buffer additives and protein-membrane interactions
Lateral Flow Assays (LFA) have been valuable tools for point-of-care diagnostics for several decades [1] and have proven to show versatile application possibilities with regards to different analytes such as antigens [2], nucleic acids [3], [4], viruses [5], [6], various capture molecules and different body fluids such as saliva [7], urine [8] or blood [9]. Also, due to the Covid-19-pandemic, this technology received increased public attention and research interest recently [10].
Bis-dispiro-indolinone-pyrrolidine-imidazolones with polymethylene linkers between imidazolone fragments
According to the World Health Organization [1], cancer causes the second highest mortality rate after cardiovascular diseases. It is known that about half of cancer cells overexpress the MDM2 protein, which causes the tumor suppressor protein p53, which regulates the cell cycle [2,3], to lose its ability to activate apoptosis.
Glucose-gated nanocoating endowing polyetheretherketone implants for enzymatic gas therapy to boost infectious diabetic osseointegration
Diabetes is an endocrine dysfunction characterized by hyperglycemia [1]. It is currently one of the most common and fast-growing diseases worldwide, and by 2045, it is anticipated to affect 693 million adults [2]. Skeletal complications arising from poor glycemic control lead to prolonged immobility and hospitalizations, and such complications are emerging as a critical clinical challenge [3].
Unveiling the potential of molecular imprinting polymer-based composites in the discovery of advanced drug delivery carriers
Section snippets Strategies for the preparation of MIPs The basic components required for the preparation of MIPs are a template, a molecule of interest that can either be a drug molecule or protein molecule, a functional monomer, a crosslinking agent, porogen solvents, and an initiator.(p19) For the production of MIPs, the conventional method involves the use of large quantities of organic solvents that are directly released into the environment during the production process, and act as a...

How to Tame Your Zombie Cells
Zombies are the stuff of legend, living dead that, depending on which movie you watch, are coming for everyone. We all have “zombie” cells in our bodies that make their presence known as we age. Zombie cells have become a popular way to describe something called cellular senescence because these cells act much like the zombies of our nightmares. What are Zombie Cells? Senescent cells have stopped dividing and are waiting to be removed from our body by the immune system.
Turbulence enhancement in body force opposed flows
Turbulence may be strongly influenced by near-wall nonuniform body forces. A widely encountered example is buoyancy acting in mixed convection flows. Here we use direct numerical simulations to present two key ideas: First we show that introducing opposing body forces whilst maintaining the pressure gradient does not cause key turbulence characteristics to change. It follows that the concept of “apparent Reynolds number” introduced by He et al. [J. Fluid Mech.
Experimental evidence for a current-biased Josephson junction acting as either a macroscopic boson or fermion
It is well known that elementary particles in the real 3+1-dimensional world are either bosons or fermions, without exception, and not both. Here, we show that a quantized current-biased Josephson junction (CBJJ), as an artificial macroscopic “particle,” can serve as either a boson or a fermion or the combination, depending on the amplitude of the biased dc current.

EP10.18: Ultrasound diagnosis of fetal abdominal aortic aneurysm: a case report and literature review
Clinical data: Ultrasound examination at 37+ weeks of gestation showed that two adjacent anechoic segments could be detected below the level of fetal renal artery. MRI showed that there were two nodular foci at the bifurcation of the abdominal aorta and in front of the left iliac artery, consider aneurysmal expansion. After 38 weeks of pregnancy, a boy was delivered naturally.
Phononic second-order topological phase in the ${\mathrm{C}}_{3}\mathrm{N}$ compound
Abstract Second-order topological phases in artificial systems have been extensively studied, but studies in the phonons of atomic materials are limited. In this paper, we propose that phononic second-order topological phase exists in C3N, a previously synthesized and intensively investigated two-dimensional material. Its nontrivial phase arises from the mismatch between the Wannier centers of the out-of-plane phonon modes and the atomic positions.

Pride and Jealousy have No Place in a Relationship, Proved Lord Krishna
Ego is not a concept foreign to humans. We have always had that innate emotion which is the root cause of pride, jealousy and many other emotions that are considered negative and said to be harmful in excess quantities. Lord Krishna teaches us in this story how to deal with one’s ego. This ‘ego’ can damage relationships. It can cause friction between the two parties if they are unsuccessful at controlling their egos.
When Shiva lost Sati and The Rage That Followed
They say that people in love are two souls merged into one, each complementing the other through understanding, nurture, and care. But what happens when that merged entity is ripped apart? What action does each take and what consequences do these actions have for the surroundings? Rage has a consequence that’s hard to handle. The human psyche is no stranger to rage. If a loved one is hurt, it often seeks the path of revenge; or rather, it is tempted to seek perceived justice.
NK Cells Accumulate in Infected Tissues and Contribute to Pathogenicity of Ebola Virus in Mice
Pathogenesis and Immunity | Spotlight H. Fausther-Bovendo, X. Qiu, S. He, A. Bello, J. Audet, G. Ippolito, G. Wong, G. Kobinger Adolfo García-Sastre, Editor DOI: 10.1128/JVI.01703-18 ABSTRACT Understanding the immune parameters responsible for survival following Ebola virus (EBOV) infection is paramount for developing countermeasures. In lethal EBOV infections, levels of both NK and T cells decline drastically in the circulation and lymphoid tissues before death.
Tuning magnetic properties for domain wall pinning via localized metal diffusion
Normalized magnetic hysteresis loops (M-H) of pure Ni Fe (NiFe) thin film, measured along in plane (IP) and out of plane (OOP) directions, are shown in Fig. 2(a). The M-H loop shows well defined in-plane anisotropy of Ni Fe film, with a low coercivity of about 15?Oe. In order to study quantitatively the magnetodynamics properties of films, broadband ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements were carried out at room temperature.
