Casimir-Lifshitz force variations across heterogeneous gapped metal surfaces
The Casimir-Lifshitz force is calculated between a heterogeneous gapped metal surface and a silica (gold) sphere attached to an atomic force microscope (AFM) cantilever tip. We demonstrate that heterogeneous surface patches with different off-stoichiometry surface properties lead to changes in the predicted distances for a specific force. This can incorrectly be interpreted as occurrences of surface roughness.
Synthesis and biological evaluation of 1-phenyl-tetrahydro-β-carboline-based first dual PRMT5/EGFR inhibitors as potential anticancer agents
Despite significant advancements in cancer treatment, it remains the second leading cause of death worldwide, following cardiovascular diseases. In 2020, an estimated 10.0 million cancer-related deaths occurred globally [1]. Among the most prevalent and aggressive types of cancer are breast and lung cancers. Breast cancer, the most common malignant tumor, is caused by multiple genetic changes involving several genes.
Critical point anomalies in doped ${\mathrm{CeRhIn}}_{5}$
The heavy-fermion compound CeRhIn5 can be tuned through a quantum critical point, when In is partially replaced by Sn. In this way additional charge carriers are introduced and the antiferromagnetic order is gradually suppressed to zero temperature. Here we investigate the temperature-dependent optical properties of CeRh(In1−xSnx)5 single crystals for x=4.4%, 6.9%, and 9.8%. With increasing Sn concentration the infrared conductivity reveals a clear enhancement of the c−f hybridization strength.
Electrohydrodynamics of diffuse porous colloids
Electrohydrodynamics of diffuse porous colloids† The present article deals with the electrohydrodynamic motion of diffuse porous particles governed by an applied DC electric field. The spatial distribution of monomers as well as the charge distribution across the particle are considered to follow sigmoidal distribution involving decay length. Such a parameter measures the degree of inhomogeneity of the monomer distribution across the particle.
Time-resolved collapse and revival of the Kondo state near a quantum phase transition
All across condensed-matter physics, coherent excitations of many-body systems can be described in a simple picture of strongly renormalized, but weakly interacting particle-like objects—the so-called quasiparticles. In metals, for example, heavy Landau fermionic quasiparticles of remarkable stability are enforced by the Pauli principle.

TRAXAR study: a randomized phase 2 trial of axitinib and TRC105 versus axitinib alone in patients with advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC)
Background: Resistance to VEGF-targeted therapy is a major challenge in the contemporary treatment of mRCC, and endoglin activation may be an important mechanism leading to resistance. Endoglin is an essential angiogenic receptor expressed on proliferating tumor vessels and RCC stem cells, and is upregulated following VEGF inhibition. TRC105 is an endoglin monoclonal antibody that potentiates the anti-tumor activity of bevacizumab and VEGF receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors in preclinical models.
Second-line metastatic urothelial carcinoma treatment and survival in real-world patients in the US
Background: Currently, there is no global standard of care for treatment of patients with metastatic urothelial cancer (mUC) who progress despite platinum-based chemotherapy. Practice guidelines recommend varied approaches from supportive care alone to single-agent chemotherapy based largely on the results of small single-arm trials that demonstrated modest activity. The treatment and outcomes of real-world patients with mUC treated with second-line (2L) systemic therapies remains underexplored.
F18 NaF PET/CT and whole body MRI for the detection of metastases in patients with biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer
Background: Patients (pts) who develop biochemically recurrent prostate cancer (BRPC) after prostatectomy can be offered salvage radiation therapy (RT) to prostate bed and pelvis. The success of that strategy is contingent on the absence of metastases (mets). Standard imaging techniques including CT scan (CT) and bone scan (BS) have limited ability in localizing BRPC and better imaging is needed to guide therapy and prevent unnecessary salvage RT in pts with mets.
