Role of tectonic rock damage in erosional processes: A global analysis
Editor’s summary Structured Abstract Abstract Supplementary Materials References and Notes Information & Authors Metrics & Citations Check Access References Figures Tables Media Share Editor’s summary Earthquakes and other fault movements lower the integrity of nearby land. Such rock damage was thought to be limited to within about 1 kilometer of faults. Kuhasubpasin et al. tested this assumption using a global compilation of 10Be-derived erosion rates.
Interaction of in-plane Drude carrier with c-axis phonon in PdCoO2 - npj Quantum Materials
Abstract We performed polarized reflection and transmission measurements on the layered conducting oxide PdCoO2 thin films. For the ab-plane, an optical peak near Ω ≈ 750 cm−1 drives the scattering rate 1/τ(ω) and effective mass m*(ω) of the Drude carrier to increase and decrease respectively for ω ≧ Ω. For the c-axis, a longitudinal optical phonon (LO) is present at Ω as evidenced by a peak in the loss function Im[−1/εc(ω)].

S. Korea's Moon: N. Korean leader Kim to visit Seoul 'soon'
Moon has previously said that Kim told him he would visit Seoul within this year when the leaders met in Pyongyang in September. South Korea's presidential office said later Thursday that it had nothing to add to Moon's speech about Kim's trip. His comments were in line with previous statements, the Blue House said. They suggest that Moon is determined to push ahead with diplomacy to resolve the nuclear issue.

Safety, tolerability, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of DWP14012, a novel potassium‐competitive acid blocker, in healthy male subjects
A novel potassium‐competitive acid blocker, DWP14012, is in clinical development as a potential alternative to proton pump inhibitors for the treatment of acid‐related diseases. A randomised, double‐blind, double‐dummy, placebo‐ and active‐controlled, single‐ and multiple‐ascending dose (SAD and MAD, respectively) study was conducted in healthy male subjects without Helicobacter pylori infection.

A model of three-dimensional topographic stresses with implications for bedrock fractures, surface processes and landscape evolution
Bedrock fractures influence the rates of surface processes that drive landscape evolution, and are in turn influenced by landforms that perturb ambient tectonic and gravitational stress fields. In this modeling study, we examine how three-dimensional topography and tectonic stress regimes influence elastic stress fields and bedrock fracture patterns beneath Earth's surface.
