Abstract This study investigates the use of cotton seed particles (CSP), a byproduct of agricultural waste, as a biofiller in an epoxy (EP) matrix. Epoxy-CSP polymer composites were fabricated with filler loadings ranging from 0 to 12 wt.%. Their physical, mechanical, and wear properties were investigated with a focus on light weight application areas.

Abstract The growing demand for sustainable materials has stimulated the development of bio-based composites, yet the combination of natural fibers and industrial waste fillers in polymer matrices has not been exploited synergistically. In line with Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG-12), the paper focuses on reusing the steel industry by-product Linz–Donawitz (LD) sludge to enhance the mechanical properties of epoxy composites when used with the jute fiber.

Comparative machine learning analysis of wear characteristics in industrial waste-filled epoxy-jute composites

Abstract This study focuses on the fabrication and analysis of hybrid epoxy based composites using jute fiber (JF) and Linz-Donawitz (LD) sludge as reinforcement materials. The composites were fabricated through a hand-lay-up technique, with LD sludge concentrations varying at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 weight percentages and a fixed concentration of JF (20 wt%). The density and microhardness of the composites were evaluated in accordance with ASTM standards.
