1 INTRODUCTION In the context of fibrosis, several tissues including skin, liver, and lung exhibit loss of lipid-filled cells or lipodystrophy.1-7 Emerging evidence demonstrates that factors originating from lipid-filled cells are fibroprotective in tissues and their acute loss in fibrotic transformation contributes to tissue dysfunction.8-12 As such, understanding the mechanisms and implications of fibrotic lipodystrophy is critical when considering therapeutic strategies in fibrosis.
