Sally Swartz was born in Grayling, Mich., and received a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. She began working for The Post in 1979. Swartz was a reporter, bureau chief and columnist in the Martin County office. She was on the Editorial Board from 2000 until August 2008. She continues to write columns for The Post.
