Salomé Grouard’s Biography

I’m a French independent journalist and writer based in Hong Kong for the past seven years, exploring the relationship between gender, culture, and politics. My work has appeared in CNN, Vice News, South China Morning Post, Slate, Monocle, and more. I am also the Content Director for TEDxHongKong 2026, and the author of a travel book about Hong Kong.

I’ve covered pivotal moments across Asia—from Hong Kong’s Covid response and the Tai Po fire—documenting grassroots social and artistic movements, gender-based struggles and the fight against systemic bias in the region. I have also interviewed a broad range of industry leaders and trendsetters, from Dr. Jane Goodall to Japanese author Asako Yuzuki.

From 2023 to 2025, I served as Digital Editor and Front & Female Lead at Tatler Hong Kong, overseeing editorial strategy and reporting on gender equality and local cultural phenomenons. Previously at the South China Morning Post (2020–2023), I was Production Editor for Digital and led the Lunar Project, where we tripled subscriptions, expanded LGBTQIA+ coverage, and won the WAN-IFRA Digital Media Award for Best Newsletter in 2023.
