Last night's England v Ghana match may not have been the most gripping footballing spectacle that the World Cup has so far produced. But even the national side's stodgy sideways strategy and the 0-0 draw it deserved still packed out any pub in central Oxford in which it could be watched. From Chequers on the High Street to The Wig and Pen and The Grapes on George Street, TV screens drew crowds which, according to Chequers barman Luca Barresi, have been far from exclusive to England fixtures.
