A truly great character creator "lets the ugly parts in"
Video games have that unique ability to make you feel reflected in a way that nothing else can, so it needs to include the things that we feel self-conscious about. Otherwise, it just becomes a perpetual youth simulator, or beauty simulator, in a way that I don't think is actually constructive for kind of mental health or just how diverse we all are.
TOEM 2 review: This photography adventure is effortlessly charming with clever puzzling
Toem 2 is a game for nosy people, which is great news for someone like me who spends at least half their time while out and about carefully eavesdropping on other people's conversations. (Don't hate me, we've all done it.) But rather than it being a game about listening to people, Toem 2 is – like its predecessor – all about grabbing your camera and talking to every single person you meet. Rather than making you feel like a voyeur, though, Toem 2 immediately makes you feel calm and at ease.
Cissy Jones on her career move from corpo stooge to games like Firewatch, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, and Telltale's The Walking Dead: "The willingness for people to tell stories in this space is so incredible"
Cissy Jones is one of those actors who's voices immediately transports you into some of the best games of all time. The voice behind characters like Delilah from Firewatch, The Absolute in Baldur's Gate 3, Katjaa in Telltale's The Walking Dead, and Andreja in Starfield - just to name a few - Jones has become one of the best in the industry, so to have her guest on the G+RLS podcast has been a real treat. Even if I am still cross about how Firewatch played out.
Have women's roles in games truly evolved since the days of damsels in distress?
Are women in games still reduced to roles like damsels in distress, femme fatales, or dead wives? That's the discussion for this week's episode of the G+RLS podcast. Serena, Emma-Jane, Ashley, and myself set to work debating whether women's roles have truly come a long way - but the TL;DR answer is yes. We touch on games like God of War Laufey and GTA 6 that are both on the way, but also the games that have done really well representing women over the years.
48% of women say the gaming community and culture do not welcome or represent them
Almost half of the women we surveyed as part of research we conducted for our brand new G+RLS podcast said that gaming communities and culture doesn't welcome or represent them. That's 48% of women playing PC and console games that we spoke to across the US and UK who don't feel accepted as part of gaming communities. That figure actually rises to 53% for console players specifically, and rises yet again to 56% for women who play competitive shooters.
Lego Skylines' blend of city building and Lego click-clack needs to be heard to be believed
The second Lego Skylines was announced, I could hear it. That click-clack of speed-building Lego sets has become synonymous with cozy joy for kids and grown-ups alike, particularly on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Lego Skylines takes the kind of setup you see in the dad's basement in The Lego Movie and takes it city-wide, putting industrial-scale creation in your hands for a fraction of the cost (and floor space). However, just because it's a Lego game doesn't mean it's a city builder for kids.
Failbetter Games' Hannah Flynn on Steam moderation, RPGs, game curation and more: "[Working in games] is fun, it generates fun for other people, but it's also serious and important"
We've got some brilliant guests lined up for the G+RLS podcast, and Hannah Flynn is one of them! Hannah has been Communications Director at Failbetter Games, the studio behind text-based RPGs like Fallen London, Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies, and the upcoming farming sim Mandrake, for 14 years and has amazing insights into the industry. Hannah Flynn is Communications Director at Failbetter Games, where she's worked since 2014.
What game genres are women allowed to play?
The teaser image for EP3 of the GamesRadar+ G+RLS podcast. There's an association or an assumption from certain pockets of the internet that women only play cozy games. Now obviously, that's not true, but also, if it is, who cares? Well, lots of people apparently. So what's an acceptable genre for women to play? That was the question that kicked off this week's G+RLS podcast, because ultimately surely it's any genre they're interested in.

Hey everyone, welcome back to G+RLS, the brand new GamesRadar+ podacst that's dedicated to telling the stories of women who game. We launched just a couple weeks ago, and now we're back with our second episode and our first guest. Konami fans rejoice, there's Prime Days deals just for us
Konami is getting a bit of a spotlight for Prime Day deals so if you're looking to catch up on some of its latest titles, you're in luck. We're keeping an eye out for Silent Hill 2, which is one of the Prime Day gaming deals that has sold out since we started writing, but don't worry there are still a whole host of Konami games on offer with chunky discounts. We've got record low on the new Silent Hill f, and even Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Pokemon merch you won't want to run away from this Prime Day
If you're looking for some Pokemon Prime Day deals then don't worry, I've spent probably too long looking for Pikachu and pals in Amazon's digital shopping aisles to find you exciting savings on all things Pokemon. That includes some of the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories too, along with fun merch, TCG sets and binders, and more. No doubt more Pokemon Prime Day deals will drop as the next few days go on, but for now these are the best savings I've found that I'd recommend for a fellow Poke Pal.
"We don't want to simplify it and make it easy, that's not where we're at": Planet Zoo 2 developer on approachability, animal improvements, and all new habitats
Elephants in Planet Zoo 2 surrounded by GamesRadar+ summer preview article badging. After seeing Planet Zoo 2 gameplay behind closed doors, I've often thought about its sag mechanics. It's a word that made the developers at Frontier laugh and wince at the same time, chuckling that they really couldn't call it that at launch. But, despite the connotations, it really does play a key part in one of the big new additions for Planet Zoo 2 - the aviaries.
Here's my pick of the 5 best Xbox Games Showcase trailers that are a must watch – and it's not just the biggest games
The magpie holding a burning log in Milktooth's Bad Magpie game. There were a ton of excellent Xbox Games Showcase trailers that dropped as part of the 2026 showcase stream, giving us fresh looks at games like Clockwork Revolution or the long-awaited State of Decay 3. But, even if you incorporate those, the reveal of Persona 6 with a very small teaser trailer, gameplay for Fable and tons for Gears of War E-Day, these are – for me – the best Xbox Games Showcase trailers from the show.
Here's my pick of the 5 best Summer Game Fest trailers that you should watch right now
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. As you'd expect from a Geoff Keighley showcase, Summer Game Fest 2026 was absolutely packed with trailers for new games for 2026 and beyond. There are some massive reveals in this year's Summer Game Fest, from Alien Isolation 2 to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation but these are the best trailers from the showcase that I think you really need to check out.

Pokemon Pokopia review: "My new cozy obsession has my year ahead sorted – building my dream paradise alongside monster pals is just too good to put down"
Pokemon Pokopia screenshot. I've just lost an hour to revitalizing a ruined road in Pokemon Pokopia. It wasn't something anyone was asking me to do, but the crumbling blocks and missing sections were really bringing down the vibe of my otherwise flourishing, albeit fledgling town. When you've already spent plenty of time planting flowers, sourcing shrubs, and sorting out the wobbly pond, you might as well just sort the road.
