On May 22, the U.S. House of Representatives passed President Donald Trump’s spending bill, “One, Big, Beautiful Bill,” which includes a provision for a progressive endowment tax on private colleges and universities. If signed into law, the bill will impose a 21% endowment tax on Stanford. An endowment is a pool of donated funds and invested assets that generate income to ensure long-term financial stability.

Philosopher, theologian and former presidential candidate Cornel West spoke on intellectual history in a lecture to students in the Structured Liberal Education (SLE) program at Florence Moore Hall (FloMo) on Friday, challenging his audience to develop the courage to think critically.

The co-op council announced on Thursday that they reached an agreement with Residential Education (ResEd) to keep Synergy and Terra as cooperative (co-op) houses for the next school year. ResEd moved to convert the longtime co-ops to self-operated houses (self-ops) last week after both houses struggled to fill 50% of their rosters in the initial pre-assignment round.
