I donned the only pair of pants I own that are not jeans and held copies of my resumé that I had hastily typed out half an hour before.

Learning about the Holocaust provides insight on how to prevent another
When I enrolled in the course titled “Representing the Holocaust,” I was looking for a global diversity credit more than anything else. I expected it to be like my brief experience learning about the Holocaust in high school, with lots of memorizing dates and facts while the teacher skimmed over the particularly gory details. What I got instead was an in-depth look at the Holocaust and its effects from a variety of different perspectives, through novels, poems, sculptures and music.

4 fun and simple ways to stay cool this summer
Who needs a swimming pool (and all the hassle that goes with it) when a little creativity can give the kids boatloads of wet fun? Your local hardware store should have everything you need to create your own water park in the backyard. Use a painters tarp to create a custom slip 'n slide. Snag some PVC pipe, drill holes into it and set it up to create a water tunnel that kids can run through to get to the next water obstacle.
4 ways to make spring cleaning a fun family affair
As the sun starts to shine a bit more this month and the last remnants of snow begin to melt (hopefully), the fresh, clean air of spring can't be too far behind. What better way to tackle those dust bunnies than to fight an epic cleaning battle as a family and take care of clutter once and for all?

Dr. Seuss's birthday not only marks a day to advance reading initiatives across the country, but to also engage your children in more reading and bringing some of his books to life. Need something that can double as cute decor for a playroom?
5 winter cabin fever busters
By the time February rolls around in Chicago, we have usually had our fair share of cold weather. Unfortunately, that means we moms find the kids are going stir-crazy staying inside. To help you, I have put together some ways to beat the winter doldrums. Save those shipping boxes from the holidays or ask local businesses for empty cardboard boxes. Have your kids turn them into personalized cars complete with plates for wheels. The fancier, the better! Think stickers, markers and crayons.
4 game day recipes for your Super Bowl party
We all know what's coming on Sunday - the best commercials collide with a stellar music performance and families and friends gather around a huge line-up of delicious foods. Oh, and I think there's some ball tossing that goes on as well. In light of this epic event, I thought I'd share some of my favorite appetizer recipes from around the web so that you can WOW your competition and make sure your stomach is not left to rumble.
Winter birthday party locations in the South suburbs
As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season winds down, instead of relaxation, our family transitions to birthday season. With both of our boys having birthdays in January, we start the planning well before Christmas just to make sure things do not catch us unaware. Each year, we lament the same fact that it is rather difficult to enjoy a birthday outdoors in Chicago and quickly nix our ideas for an outside barbecue luau.
Counting down to midnight with kids
As a mom of two little boys, our thoughts after Christmas turn to New Year's Eve as we quickly realize the likelihood of having genuine adult plans are nil. Instead of being down and out about our non-date night, I decided to plan for a midnight countdown with our kids! (Probably with a more reasonable 8 p.m. bedtime). I've rounded up some cute ideas and crafts from Pinterest to get your little ones involved in ringing in the New Year.
