The New York Times: New leaders in Shows department

We recently announced that we were forming a Shows department to expand the reach of our audio and video shows. Now, I’m thrilled to announce the leaders of that department. Brooke Minters, who has pioneered our push into podcast video, will oversee the newsroom’s portfolio of existing shows as director of Shows. And Lisa Tobin, the founding editor of “The Daily,” will lead development for new shows as director of development.

Over the past year or so, we’ve begun an exciting push into video podcasts. Millions of viewers have watched “The Daily,” “The Interview,” “Hard Fork,” “Popcast,” “Cannonball,” “The Book Review” and “Modern Love” experiment in video in ways that have added dynamism to our report. We’ve achieved this through collaborations primarily between the Audio and Video departments, with the help of desks across the newsroom.

We’re thrilled to announce that Lauren Jackson, the endlessly creative London-based editor of The Morning, has been promoted to deputy editorial director, Newsletters. She will join Jessica Anderson, who was promoted last year to deputy, email programming and strategy, in helping lead our growing newsletter team, an increasingly important hub of innovation and impact. Lauren is a digitally native, strategically savvy and meticulously diligent journalist.
