What is already known about this subject Clozapine dosage guidance in treatment-resistant schizophrenia is largely based on young White men. Clozapine plasma clearance is affected by sex, ethnicity, smoking status and body weight, amongst other factors. Pharmacokinetic studies have observed inconsistent effects of age on plasma clozapine clearance but were limited by small sample sizes.
