Despite the minerals deal announced by Ukraine and the United States on April 30, 2025, the Trump administration refuses to offer Ukraine concrete security guarantees. Given the tremendous uncertainty surrounding US military support for Ukraine, European leaders are working aggressively to identify which military areas they can assume and which areas are beyond their current capacities in helping Ukraine protect itself against Russian aggression.

El Salvador’s recent $1.4 billion bailout by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) aimed to cut short President Nayib Bukele’s unwieldy cryptocurrency goals and their toll on the country’s worsening debt crisis. Observers declared that El Salvador’s bitcoin project was dead. But the country’s continued bitcoin purchases threaten to break the IMF’s rules. The fund’s lackluster response risks not only El Salvador’s economic stability, but also the IMF’s own credibility.

Chemonics has also worked to facilitate broader private sector investment in Jordan. ERA assisted the Government of Jordan in drafting, revising, and implementing its new Investment Environment Law. The law took effect on January 3, 2023 and clarifies and aligns regulations to provide clear information and guidelines to both investors and regulators.
