Abstract Hemithyroiditis is a rare form of thyroid inflammation characterized by involvement of only one lobe of thyroid gland. The exact pathophysiological mechanism remains unclear; however, it is thought to represent a localized manifestation of chronic thyroiditis that may be triggered by upper respiratory tract infections, trauma and radiation exposure. It has a preponderance for middle aged women.

Abstract Tumour thrombi are a rare but serious complication of malignancy. It involves extension of organised collection of neoplastic cells into adjacent blood vessels, in contrast to a bland thrombus which consists of platelets and fibrin. It occurs more commonly in renal cell or hepatic cell carcinoma. Tumour thrombi are often asymptomatic and incidentally detected on imaging, however, their presence can affect staging, treatment options and prognosis of the patient.

Abstract Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), a highly aggressive tumour, is the most prevalent form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), staged with 18F-flourodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F FDG PET/CT) although conventional radiological imaging may be employed occasionally. DLBCL may present in an atypical manner, resulting in detection by alternate imaging modalities such a bone scan, which is usually not the first choice in the workup.
