In a key development, Ajay Bhadoo has been appointed as the Deputy Election Commissioner of the poll body of India. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the senior bureaucrat's candidature on Sunday. Bhadoo is a 1999-batch Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer of the Gujarat cadre. He has been appointed as the deputy election commissioner until July 24, 2024, the government notification stated.

AAP leader Amanatullah Khan gets bail in Waqf recruitment case

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for alleged corruption in the Waqf recruitment scheme, has been granted bail. The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted Khan bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. Khan was arrested on September 16 in connection with irregularities in recruitment for the Delhi Waqf Board.
