Could Medical Training Learn From Dungeons & Dragons? When was the last time you played? Was it a board game? Your daily Wordle? A pickleball match? A tea party with your kids? For me, regardless of when you read this, it was probably pretty recently at the improv theater where I perform (more on that later).

During my first year of medical school, I made the choice to take a medical leave of absence, and at one point, had no intention of returning. Although it was my dream from a young age to become a physician, depression became a culprit to my well-being and led to the demise of my mental health. Anxiety began to contribute, which made me so unwell I dropped 15 pounds in three months and could not sleep for days at a time.
