Santee Cooper to begin controlled spill at Santee Dam
Increased rainfall in the Santee Cooper watershed and upstream lake operations has resulted in increased inflows into the Santee Cooper Lake system. Due to elevated lake levels, the St. Stephen hydro units have been operating around the clock since Aug. 3. Santee Cooper anticipates that it will begin spill operations at the Santee Dam at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

MONCKS CORNER – Santee Cooper will conduct a test of its 15 warning sirens for the Santee Dam floodplain in Berkeley, Clarendon and Williamsburg counties on Monday, May 21. As part of the test, Santee Cooper will set off each siren in test mode, which includes about a one-minute siren followed by a prerecorded message and a live announcement concluding the exercise.
