Animals All procedures involving animals were performed with the approval of the Complutense University Animal Experimentation Committee and Madrid Regional Government according to the European official regulations. Animals were housed in the animal facility of the UCM School of Biology, under a 12 h light-dark cycle, and were allowed to feed and drink ad libitum.
