Robert Wuthnow has spent a lifetime explaining America to itself, showing how faith often survives even when denominations decline. A sociologist of religion, Wuthnow has logged decades as one of the country’s most influential interpreters of faith in American public life. Although he retired from Princeton University in 2021, his prolific work continues. His 44th book, The Religious Left: What It Does and How It Can Do Better is out next month from NYU Press.
