Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, before moving to Africa at the age of 21, Sarah Kingdom is a travel writer, mountain climber and guide, traveler, yoga teacher, trail runner, and mother of two. When she is not climbing or traveling she lives on a cattle ranch in central Zambia. She guides and runs trips regularly in India, Nepal, Tibet, Russia, and Ethiopia, taking climbers up Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro numerous times a year.

Sarah Kingdom visits the Savoy 1918 and discovers a heritage hotel in the heart of Oslo that has been given a new lease of life Oslo has never been short of hotels, but Savoy 1918 has something most of the newer arrivals don’t: a past. The hotel first opened in 1918 and has occupied the corner of Universitetsgata and Pilestredet for more than a hundred years. After a substantial renovation, it reopened in July 2026 with 92 rooms, Café WATT, Savoy Bar and a small wellness area.
