Pumpkin Sauce Spaghetti and Meatballs
Spaghetti and meatballs doesn’t need reinventing, but this is a version we keep coming back to. Pumpkin puree in a crushed tomato base makes a sauce richer and slightly sweeter than straight marinara, velvety enough to coat the pasta properly. It’s a natural fit for autumn and the holiday months, when you want comfort food that feels like a considered choice rather than a fallback.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Brookie
What do you get when you combine the chocolatey bar form of a brownie with the ingredeints of an oatmeal peanut butter cookie? A brookie. A half cookie, half brownie, delicious dessert bar. Mike had a work potluck and requested that I make a dessert. I’m scrolling through Pinterest trying to come up with ideas when I stumble upon the Brookie, half brownie, half cookie. Mike gets excited. “What if the cookie half was peanut butter?” he asks. “With dried cherries! And oatmeal!” So here it is.
Strawberry Galette
When I saw that strawberries were finally reappearing in the grocery, I got excited and bought four pounds. I threw some into salad, ate some for snacks, but we still had two pounds that were threatening to go bad unless I found something to do with them. Hence, these strawberry galettes were born! The key to strawberry galettes is the dough. You want it to be soft and pliable, not too dry and not overcooked.
Sesame Noodles with Broccoli and Avocado
It’s been forever since I’ve bought broccoli, mostly because I don’t ever know what to do with it. But I’ve been wanting to bring some new (old?) veggies into the mix, and throwing broccoli in with some noodles seemed like the right way to do it! This recipe is fairly simple, though I’ve gone into some detail in the directions for charring broccoli. You’re basically just letting the broccoli fry in the pan for long enough (without stirring) so that it gets a good char without burning.

Peach and Basil Salad with Fried Goat Cheese
Sweet with candied almonds, dried cherries and peaches this salad is the perfect combo with savory fried goat cheese and basil. This salad is so typically me. Lots of sweetness with candied almonds and dried cherries and fruit, lots of goat cheese (it’s clearly my favorite cheese), lots of summery-ness even though it’s still technically spring. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I was ALL WINTER for this exact kind of salad.

Melon and Mozzarella Salad
Sip something fun this summer and relax with Portugal’s Casal Garcia wines. Fun enough for a gathering and versatile enough to pair with easy patio meals. Ball a juicy melon, add herbs, mozzarella and head outside to devour the fruit salad with a glass of cool white wine in hand. Do you have a favorite kitchen utensil? My gut reaction is to choose the serrated knife. It cuts tomatoes, which is essential.
Almond and Coconut Blueberry Overnight Oats
Fresh blueberries, coconut yogurt, and almonds make these easy overnight oats a delicious force to be reckoned with. I may have eaten some oatmeal for late night snack time one time. I adore overnight oatmeal. It’s simply oats soaked overnight in almond milk and yogurt topped with things like fruit and nuts. It’s so easy to throw together and requires no baking, plus you can customize it with whatever toppings you like. Creamy things are my world.
Mexican Street Corn Quesadillas with a Twist
Taking a great thing and making a new great thing. So you’ve tried Mexican street corn, right? And you love it, right!? We’re taking that classic recipe, cutting it off the cob and slapping it between some tortillas. It’s good. I roasted some peppers and onions to add bulk, but you could conceivably go straight for the corn and leave all else out. Just make sure you pile these babies high with the “dipping sauce,” which is the feta-cumin-lime-mayo sauce that’s usually spread over the corn cobs.
Seared Tuna Tacos with Wasabi-Cilantro Aioli
Taco Tuesday (or Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and TWICE on Sunday) just got a seriously delicious upgrade. This recipe is really too easy – even if you’ve never cooked tuna steaks before, you’re going to do it like a pro. With this technique, your fish will come out juicy and not-dry every time. And the wasabi mayo. Gah. You can tweak the mayo based on how much or little of the stuff you want. I loaded mine up, obviously. 1.
Roasted Poblano Caesar Salad
This salad is absolutely worth getting your blender dirty for, which you know is the hardest part of any recipe. I wanted it to be hardy enough for a meal so we’ve thrown in some hard boiled eggs and avocado and tortilla chips that make it a party. Mike adored the dressing. I think “best” and “I’ve ever had” were strung together in a sentence somewhere in there.
Mango and Pineapple Chutney with Chipotle Aioli on Hot Dogs
Summer is for grilling, especially hot dogs and sausages. Highlight summer fruits and flavors with a sweet mango pineapple chutney with a hint of spiciness from the red pepper flakes. By Sarah Mason I’m going through a phase. A if-it’s-not-grilled-then-I’m-not-eating-it phase. Did you see these pork belly BLTs? How about this grilled romaine salad? More smoked-pork-belly tacos? And now some amazing grilled hot dogs made with pork sausage and mango chutney and chipotle aioli. Yes.
