Sarah now serves as an English teacher in Texas. This comes after student teaching grades 9-12 in a 6A Texas high school journalism program in Fall 2021. At the end of this first year, she was awarded “Rookie of the Year” from her campus.
She completed a Master of Education from the University of North Texas in 2022 — a pivot from her background of dedicated work in journalism. Her passion is honest and impactful storytelling and sharing this skill with future generations.
She is open to freelancing (journalism) opportunities in the Dallas area.
During Summer 2020, she completed an internship with the Metro desk at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. In this role, she reported on crime, coronavirus, city government, civil unrest and other breaking news.
Sarah served as the editor-in-chief of Missouri State University’s student newspaper, The Standard, for the 2019-2020 school year. During this time, she orchestrated the paper’s move to a completely digital, online-only format for the first time in its 100-year history during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before her stint as editor-in-chief, Sarah spent a year in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, photographing culture through her “Expressions of Worship” photo series. She’s worked in local storytelling, internal communication and public relations and in radio.
Sarah also has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Missouri State University.
