Sarah Nachimson’s Biography
s someone who believes in the importance of human connection, Sarah "Eli" Nachimson (Eli is their preferred name outside of professional circles) has diverse experience across various fields seeking to follow their passions.
They are a freelance journalist, photojournalist, and videographer who has covered stories about humans rights in California prisons, refugees at the U.S.-Mexico border, housing rights in Echo Park, and protests as well as police brutality in Los Angeles. They also have experience covering entertainment, culture, editorial, and literary beats. As a semi-fluent modern Hebrew speaker with limited working proficiency in Levantine Arabic.
They are a political organizer, formerly a representative on the South Robertson Neighborhood Council and a co-organizer of HSDA Virtual Pride 2020, which raised $1200 for the LGBTQ+ charities GLAAD and P-Flag.
In creative writing, they are recognized for their poetry, short stories, fiction, and memoirs. With Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, Polyphony Lit, and Siblini Journal, they have experience giving feedback with creative works of prose and poetry.
Additionally, they are elementary educator. They have experience teaching English, Mathematics, Art, Hebrew language, and religious studies to ages 5-14 as well as coordinating youth programs.
They will pursue a B.A. in English and Sociology from University of California-Los Angeles. They are also currently a digital reporting intern for The Forward.
