Top five: wacky alternative love songs
Everyone enjoys a good love song, and while Valentine’s Day is all about mushy sweet feelings, in reality, love is hardly as simple as a few major chords and some cute imagery about hand holding. Sometimes we all need a break from the over-the-top depictions of true love. Here are five alternative songs that provide a whole new take on romance.
KTRM-FM presents: Songs for the road
Looking to spice up your road trip playlist while you travel over the holidays? KTRM-FM has you covered. With students from over 35 majors, Truman State University’s award-winning radio station is home to members of all corners of campus, which reflects the reality that we’re more than just an indie and alternative station 一 and that this piece will consist of more than just weird, obscure music. We’re individuals from an assortment of backgrounds who have very eclectic tastes.
KTRM-FM suggests: Albums for the road
You’re all familiar with road trip playlists. They’re upbeat, varied and full of surprises. You might even have contributed to some in your lifetime, but that’s assuming you’re a fan of such playlists. Going one step further, let’s say playlists aren’t your thing. Perhaps you don’t have the capability of hooking your phone up to your car’s speakers or prefer the focus of a whole album rather than the discombobulated sorting of tunes that Spotify recommends.

Consider the catharsis of a good drive
If you’re like me, you know the restorative power of a long drive on a sunny afternoon. I’m a preservice teacher currently observing at Knox County Middle School. Each day, I drive a round-trip distance of about 50 miles, which takes an hour. As a Typical Truman Student who, like most of you, is getting more than just a little nervous about finals, you might think I would resent the time it takes out of my day to travel the distance between campus and my placement at the middle school.

From not being able to go out for necessities, to not being able to see your friends, to not even being able to get a breath of fresh air, there are several reasons to hate self-isolation. As someone who was recently quarantining on Truman State University’s campus, I’ll be candid in saying that it was definitely not my dream vacation; however, the Sodexo employees were often the bright spot in my day, and for that, I have nothing but gratitude.
