SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– We’re avoiding summertime heat in the middle of June; a big question is, when will the summer temperatures return for good? Before we get there, we’ll have to deal with the west-to-northwest flow in the atmosphere. This means storm systems will come in from that direction, and temperatures will be near average or slightly below average with that type of pattern. Unfortunately, it’s not an ideal pattern for us to get much moisture.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– If you were up early enough, you probably felt the chill in the air. Temperatures this morning fell to their coldest reading this month in Sioux Falls and surrounding areas, with many in the 40s. In the river valleys, it has been even colder, reaching into the upper 30s. This is the coldest reading for many this month. On this graphic, Custer and Pine Ridge both fell to temperatures in the middle 30s.
