North Carolina chose not to officially participate in President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair in Washington, DC, but the state still ended up in the middle of one of the fair’s biggest controversies. A privately organized North Carolina booth at the fair drew national attention after a video display in the exhibit showed a Confederate flag image. The image was removed after NC Gov. Josh Stein’s office issued a strongly worded statement condemning it.

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating National Parks & Recreation Month in July with a variety of activities, including youth sports clinics, outdoor recreation, live music workshops and community events. The month’s activities begin Tuesday, July 7, with the first of four Youth Golf Clinics at Gillespie Golf Course.

Guilford County Parks and Recreation is celebrating Parks and Recreation Month in July with a variety of events and activities for residents and visitors of all ages, including fireworks, hiking, kayaking, yoga, family activities and more. County officials said that Parks and Recreation Month highlights the important role parks and recreation play in building stronger, healthier and more vibrant communities.
