“Reading Is FUNdamental” Many holidays are celebrated and in the Alamo City we go wild for Fiesta but there isn’t an emphasis on reading programs as much as other celebrations in our city. Every September 8th is a holiday set aside for literacy but many don’t know about it. Celebrating literacy is a special day that recognizes the attack on illiteracy in America which is celebrated Nationally on September 8th of each year.

There are many dynasties in American culture. San Antonio had a family that were millionaires in the early 1900’s. 35 years after slavery a black family was on their way to being one of the richest families in the Alamo City regardless. Whenever you’re riding on New Braunfels on the Eastside of San Antonio look at Greater Corinth Baptist Church, this huge gated building and all its land was the residence of the Bellinger family.
