For Varsho, the road to baseball's biggest stage came through Milwaukee. He was the first Panther ever to make the majors and the only one to play in a World Series. "I learned so much about myself," Varsho says. "But also, we (Milwaukee Panthers) were always the underdog with everything.

"We defended together and we were unselfish," forward Max Ferdinand said. "We know we had to defend against a great team, so that's what we did. That's what we did and we came through." As he prepares to be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, Murphy knows none of it is possible without the fans. “Every team in the league says they have the best fans, but I think the Packers, we’re the only team that can say that and actually know that it's true," Murphy said.
