I am a journalism student graduating in May of 2019 from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I currently am a part-time sports reporter at the Leader-Telegram in Eau Claire, WI. I also have experience at the student-run publication, The Spectator, as a staff writer and sports editor at UW-Eau Claire. The Colorado football team just picked up arguably its biggest recruiting win of the offseason. Four-star defensive lineman Ben’Jarvius Shumaker flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to the Buffs on Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder is a top-100 recruit and top-10 DL in the 2027 class. Shumaker had been committed to Ole Miss since March but took a surprise official visit to Boulder last weekend.

Coderro McDaniel was only going to leave Mississippi for a place (and coach) that reminded him of home. That’s exactly why the three-star offensive lineman flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Colorado. McDaniel committed to the Rebels on April 20 but took an official visit to Boulder on June 5. Less than two weeks later, he joined the Buffs‘ growing 2027 recruiting class. “The connection with Coach Gunnar (White) and Coach Dre (Gurode),” McDaniel told DNVR of his decision to flip.
