Just 11% Know GOP Convention Is Even Happening This Week

Despite significant media coverage in recent days, only 40% of voters know that there's a Republican convention this year. The Napolitan News survey found this total includes just 49% of Republicans. The survey was conducted September 8-9, less than 24 hours before the convention began. Despite that, just 11% of voters knew the convention was even happening this week. That includes 12% of Republicans and 11% of Democrats. Among all voters 3% plan to watch most or all of it.

In my previous column, I showed how people in the political bubble are like the prisoners in Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. In our 10-10-80 nation, many ten percenters are imprisoned within their ideological bubbles and have little understanding of the 80 percenters they want to rule. Since they don’t know what it’s like in the real world, they misinterpret reality based upon shadows like news coverage, social media firestorms, and low-turnout election results.
