The Heartland Bank near South Cummings Lane and Washington Road was involved in a robbery, according to Washington Police Chief Jeff Stevens. No other information has been released at this time. New Peoria transfer station to open Monday

PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — The new Peoria Transfer Station will be open for trash and recycling drop-offs starting on Monday. Starting June 8, Peoria County residents will be able to drop off one load of garbage a week at the transfer station located at 4349 West Southport Road, according to Rebecca Cottrell, Peoria County's Sustainability Coordinator. This transfer station will open to serve the needs of residents after Peoria City/County Landfill #2 closed on April 19, 2025.
