Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did all the illustrations by hand because I wanted it to look like Harper's Weekly. I also wrote terrible opinion pieces. I was 15.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

No one can promote your work the way you can. You have to be both a journalist and a marketer.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

A doctor who sent a print newsletter to his patients and thought he should start raking in advertising dollars.
