Jimmy Duffy Appointed Forwards Coach

Munster Rugby are pleased to announce that Jimmy Duffy will join the province as Forwards Coach ahead of the 2026/27 season on a two-year deal. A vastly experienced coach who specialises in developing and nurturing young talent, Duffy is a former Connacht lock who played a key role as Assistant Coach in the province’s 2016 PRO12 title win.

Comparing astrobiologists’ confidence in extraterrestrial life claims for K2-18 b and Cheyava Falls

Following two major 2025 announcements of possible extraterrestrial life — on exoplanet K2-18 b in April and in the Cheyava Falls rock on Mars in September — we surveyed the astrobiology community to capture the spread of expert opinion. These datasets establish baseline measures of scientific confidence in each case, revealing that astrobiologists were notably more persuaded by the Martian evidence than by that from K2-18 b.

Alex Codling To Depart Munster Rugby

Munster Rugby can confirm that Forwards Coach Alex Codling will depart the province this summer for a new coaching opportunity in the Top14 in France. Codling initially joined as Forwards Coach Consultant in November 2024, a role he combined with his position as Forwards Coach with the Ireland Women’s team. The 52-year-old made an immediate impact as Munster reached the Champions Cup and URC quarter-finals.
