What was your first job as a journalist?

An incredibly exciting summer at a French local paper by the seaside.

Tintin is my favorite -- in fact he is the only one I know.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means you'd rather die doing your job.

I want to let the world care about stories and issues that are deserve attention.

No.

My current project.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Keep digging. Take lots of notes. Call, if your emails are unanswered. Show up unannounced, if phones are slammed on you.

A photo story on neo-nazis in Sweden.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Too many to enumerate.

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In bed.

ProPublica.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That any injustice or crime would be a story.
