ABSTRACT This article offers a comparative critique of Latife Tekin’s Gece Dersleri (1986) and Muzaffer Oruçoğlu’s Tohum (1992) as antithetical engagements with the crisis of leftist militancy in 1970s Turkey. Framing post-1980 literature as a site of epistemological struggle, the study interrogates how these texts mobilize divergent aesthetic paradigms to reconfigure the memory of political defeat.

INTRODUCTION The increasing internationalisation of higher education underscores the need to examine the dynamics and formation of academic diasporas, particularly those marked by fragmentation. The Turkish academic diaspora in Britain serves as an ideal case for studying the formation of a fragmented academic diaspora. In the late 1980s, there was significant migration from Turkey to the United Kingdom and other European countries for economic and political reasons (Kiran & Acikalin, 2021).
