NUDC is critical for rod photoreceptor function, maintenance, and survival

Abstract NUDC (nuclear distribution protein C) is a mitotic protein involved in nuclear migration and cytokinesis across species. Considered a cytoplasmic dynein (henceforth dynein) cofactor, NUDC was shown to associate with the dynein motor complex during neuronal migration. NUDC is also expressed in postmitotic vertebrate rod photoreceptors where its function is unknown.

Satellite operation in the space environment necessitates the consideration of radiation effects on electronic and optoelectronic materials and devices. Charged particle radiation from the sun occurs primarily in the form of protons, electrons, and lower Z atomic ions (originating mostly from coronal mass ejections, or CMEs), while higher Z (heavy) ions derive from the cosmic background.
