The heinous killing of 23-year old Mustafa Amir is familiar in many ways. This is not the first murder to take place in an up-scale neighbourhood, nor the first to be sensationalised in the news media, and not even the first to shock an entire nation because of the sheer brutality of this act. Which is why the way it is playing out is not surprising in the least. Some crimes are so shocking, so unexpected, and so out of place that they capture the attention of an entire population.

LAHORE: The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Ather Waheed, has submitted a proposal to Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, seeking structural reforms in the City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) to address increasing traffic management challenges, Pakistan Today learnt here on Thursday. The information outlines the increasing challenges of traffic control in Lahore and presents a plan to improve supervision through additional posts at different levels.

It is one of Pakistan’s biggest crybaby lobbies, constantly asking for free goodies, which means that there is generally very little sympathy amongst the public for the textile industry. But while the larger players tend to be rich and have the capacity to withstand much tougher economic conditions, smaller textile mills have always had a harder time, and in recent years, many have been struggling to keep their doors open.
