A Devon councillor is urging people to stop bringing explosives to recycling centres after two devices were found at a waste site in Devon just a few days apart. The detonator of an explosive shell was found at Brunel Road Recycling Centre in Newton Abbot on Sunday, June 14, the same place a grenade had been found in the week prior. Bomb disposal experts came and removed the device on Sunday.

Predatory police officer had sex with domestic violence victim while on duty

A former Devon and Cornwall Police officer has been jailed for having sex with a domestic violence victim while on duty. James Stillman, 32, previously pleaded guilty to three counts of misconduct in a public office relating to two vulnerable women he "targeted for sex". Bristol Crown Court heard on Friday that Stillman, then an officer with Devon and Cornwall Police, had sex with one of the women last summer while carrying out a welfare check at her home.

As visitors arrive into Exmouth via train, they might notice the railings outside M&S covered in banners showcasing the calendar of events in the town this summer, such as Exmouth Festival and Armed Forces Day. But at times this month, one has gone noticeably missing. Only a day after the LGBTQ+ Exmouth Pride banner went up here, it was removed by unknown parties. A replacement was also taken down.
