I don’t have any children, so when asked about my legacy, of course my thoughts turn to pierogies. My mom and I help our friend Tyna and her daughter Gretel Kaltenbaugh make pierogies once or twice a year despite the fact that we’re mostly Irish (Mom) plus a little bit German (me), and the Kaltenbaughs are what Gretel describes as “Eastern European Mutt.” It doesn’t matter. Tyna’s pierogies are excellent and produced at a quantity so large that many hands are needed.

The author shot to literary fame nearly 25 years ago with her first book, “Good in Bed,” and has gone on to write a barrage of best-sellers, which her latest, “The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits,” will surely join.
