1 Introduction Multi-host diseases have the potential to influence the structure and dynamics of communities in multiple and compounding ways. This has been demonstrated in avian malaria (Plasmodium relictum) in Hawaiian birds (Warner 1968; Van Riper et al. 1986), canine distemper virus in carnivores (Roelke-Parker et al. 1996; Loots et al. 2017), and bat communities infected with white nose syndrome (Blehert et al. 2009; Hoyt et al. 2021).
