Abstract Hepatoid adenocarcinoma (HAC) is a rare, malignant, extrahepatic tumor with hepatocellular differentiation. HAC is often associated with elevated serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) concentrations, which makes it difficult to distinguish from primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It is a difficult diagnosis based on histopathology, as the immunohistochemistry (IHC) profile often overlaps with hepatocellular carcinoma.
